Audio problems
Question
I have no audio, or my audio is distorted or not working properly.
Answer
This issue could be caused by a number of things. If you have audio
outside of the game, then make sure that you don't have any third
party peripherals attached that might interfere with audio in the
game. Some examples of this include audio production or post
production tools, wireless Bluetooth adapters (for use with many
popular cell phones), and similar types of devices that may possibly
interfere. Also make sure that you are not running any other
programs that use sound, such as music programs or voice chat
programs.
If you have no audio at all, make sure that your volume is turned up
loud enough to hear it, your speakers are plugged in completely, and
any headphones are unplugged from their port. Temporarily swapping
out with a different pair of speakers could help eliminate the
speakers as a possible culprit. Also, you may want to try reseating
the sound card in your machine.
If you have sound, but it is distorted, try adjusting your audio
hardware acceleration.
If you are using Windows® 2000 or XP:
Click Start.
Click Settings then Control Panel, or just click Control Panel.
Depending on how you have Windows configured, what you see will be
slightly different.
Click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices then Sounds and Audio
Devices, or just click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices. As above,
you might need to do either depending on your Windows configuration.
On the default Volume tab, try placing the Device volume slider
between 50% and 80%. Do not turn it all the way to 100%.
Under the heading Speaker settings, click the Speaker Volume...
button.
As above, try placing the slider(s) between 50% and 80%.
Click OK.
Under the heading Speaker settings, click the Advanced... button.
Click on the Performance tab.
Try moving the Hardware acceleration slider to a different setting,
such as 75% instead of Full.
Click OK all the way out, then restart the computer.
Try the game to see if there is any difference.
If you are using Windows 98 or ME:
Click Start.
Click Settings.
Click Control Panel.
Double-click Multimedia.
On the Audio tab, click Advanced Properties under the Playback
heading.
Select the Performance tab.
Try moving the Hardware acceleration slider to a different setting,
such as 75% instead of Full.
Click OK all the way out, then restart the computer.
Try the game to see if there is any difference.
If there is no sound on any part of your system and the above
suggestions do not help, then try updating the drivers on your sound
card. Please contact your sound device’s manufacturer for the latest
drivers. Below are links to some of the more common manufacturers of
sound cards:
Creative Labs™: Click Here
Realtek: Click Here
If you are still experiencing issues after that, please contact your
sound card manufacturer. . |
